Chivas is not a giant. But in the week the world was watching Benzema, Cristiano, and the start of the Saudi League, it was the Mexican club that generated the most engaged post on the planet — 37.2% ER on TikTok.

What the data said

  • 01

Everyone had their eyes on Cristiano's sprint toward a thousand goals and Benzema's debut complete with three penalties. Al-Nassr was the fourth most liked team of the week in Instagram photos. But "liking" and "feeling" are different things — and the number that sums it up is 37.2%: Chivas's ER on TikTok, the absolute record of the week, while the Saudi stars were racking up likes and very little real connection.

  • 02

Fenerbahçe owned the week without playing a major final, without a blockbuster signing, without an obvious viral meme. Three consecutive days at the top of the engagement ranking — photos and reels — with a peak of 6.7% ER on reels, the highest of the week on Instagram. Nobody came close.

  • 03

Memphis Depay left Corinthians "very disappointed," making headlines in French, Portuguese, and Spanish. While the circus spun on, the club that stayed on the data radar was Cruzeiro — where Fagner cried over his rival's departure and two Cruzeiro posts entered the top ER ranking for photos that week, peaking at 5.6%. The rival's drama fed the home side's engagement.

  • 04

Santos and Atlético-MG were not in the hottest headlines of the week, but they showed up where it matters: in the Instagram reels engagement ranking on Sunday. Santos with 5.7% ER and Atlético-MG with 3.6% — on a weekend when Real Madrid was dominating views with 52 million on a single video. Reach is one thing. Connection is another.

The contrast

Real Madrid had the most watched video of the week — 52 million views on a single reel. Impressive. But the team that truly engaged the most was Chivas: a Mexican club that does not have a tenth of the Merengue's reach, yet whose post generated a 37.2% return from its audience. The giant was seen. The smaller one was felt.

What to watch

Fenerbahçe accumulated 38 appearances in the top-10 this week — almost level with Barcelona and Real Madrid. If the Turkish season heats up, this club will be impossible to ignore in the data. Eyes on them.
